Air fryer or oven: what is actually cheaper?
For small meals, an air fryer uses roughly half the electricity of a full-size oven, because it heats a small box instead of a big one.
Where it saves, and where it does not
- Chips, nuggets and chicken pieces: cheaper and crisper in an air fryer.
- A roast for six: the oven wins; an air fryer cannot hold it.
- Batch cooking: a dual-zone model such as the Crisp 9L cooks two things at once.
If you cook for one or two, the 3.2L Crisp is plenty. For a family, go 5.5L or larger.
